Poster is Finally Finished!

The poster that I have created in order to advertise the album 'Blinding' by my music act 'The Disadvantaged' is now finally finished. Here is the finished product:

Digipack Front Cover...

I've nearly finished putting together the front cover of my digipack. I decided to use the same pictures of my band members for the front cover as the ones I had used for each band members individual section inside of the digipack, though instead of using the full sized ones I cropped the image so that only the band members faces and part of the background is in the image. I still need to add one more of the band members images, Sam, into the final version of the front cover. However I might not be able to do this until after half term as I can't seem to find the original version of the picture I took of her in my pictures at school. I will have to save the original picture of her onto my memory stick from my laptop at home and then bring it into school after half term and add her image in then.

This is my front cover so far, minus the fifth band member Sam...

Dual Disc Feature...

We've now been told that our digipack's now have to also include a DVD as well as the actual CD itself. Because the band I've created for this are signed to one of the five major music labels, with my band being signed to Warner Brothers Records, I will be using the dual disc feature for my CD, which will basically mean that on the front cover of my digipack there will be a DVD logo as well as a Dual Disc logo, in order to show that the CD is of a dual disc format with the actual CD being on one side of the disc and the DVD on the other side. I will also have to include these logos on the poster advertising my digipack so that if the poster were to actually be advertised it would advertise to people that a CD and DVD would be included within the digipack.

Change of Record Label...

Originally I was going to have my band The Disadvantaged signed to an independent record label. I chose to have them signed to The Echo Label, as it was an independent label and had similar acts who had a similar sound to that of the band I had created for this project. Due to the song I have made my video for being by Florence + The Machine and the tracklist of the album I have created also being songs from this particular music acts album, I decided to choose The Echo Label as the music act Bat For Lashes was at one point also signed to this same label, and from looking at songs by this artist, they have quite a similar sound to that of Florence + The Machine's.

However, when looking for The Echo Label's logo to put on the back cover of my digipack, I found it quite hard to find the labels actual logo, particuarly as its not the best known of music labels. Due to this I decided to change my bands record label to the Warner Brothers Record Label, as despite the fact it is one of the five major labels in the music industry, they still sign smaller bands that have a more unique sound and image compared to other major bands.

Digipack - Band Info...

I've pretty much nearly finished the digipack for my band The Disadvantaged. All thats left for me to do now is to make the front cover, add that onto my template and then it will finally be finished. So far I've done all of the band members sections of the digipack, and in all of these have used the same font of text, same effects on the text, edited the images of the band members in a particular way and creating a background, all of which I think fits in quite well with the indie image of the band and the sound of their music.

I decided to edit the photos by having the majority of the photo grey and the middle part of the photo in colour as I thought it would make a nice effect and also I think it gives it quite an edgy look and almost looks like an old photograph that has had most of the colour drained out of it. This is also why I chose to use the effect of old photograph book corners on my photos as again I thought it gave them quite a unique look that fits in well with the ideology of my band, their image and their sound.

Album Title + Tracklisting...

For the tracklisting of the songs of my album, I decided to just use the tracklisting of Florence + The Machine's album, 'Lungs'. I decided to do this because the other songs fit in well with the single I've made my video for and they also suit the style and ideology of my band.

Tracklisting: 1. Dog Days Are Over
2. Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)
3. I'm Not Calling You A Liar
4. Howl
5. Kiss With A Fist
6. Girl With One Eye
7. Drumming Song
8. Between Two Lungs
9. Cosmic Love
10. My Boy Builds Coffins
11. Hurricane Drunk
12. Blinding
13. You've Got The Love
I also thought it would be a good idea to use other songs from Florence + The Machine's album as she is a female vocalist and the lead singer of my band is also a female, so I thought the two would link in quite well along with the similar sound and theme to 'You've Got The Love' and the rest of the songs on the album.

Album Title...
I decided to name the album 'Blinding' after one of the tracks on Florence + The Machine's albums which I've used for my own tracklisting. I was originally going to call the album 'You've Got The Love' after the single which I've made my video for, however I thought this title would be slightly repetitive due to it also being the single, so instead I chose another song off of the album which I thought would go well with the style and ideology of the band.
